Serie A is the top division of Italian football. The first national championships date from the late 19th century, but the single-league format, with every club playing each other in a league table, began in 1929/30, with the title going to Ambrosiana, the name Inter went by at the time. Italy is the home of catenaccio and of great defenders, and the competition has always been a laboratory of tactical ideas.
Juventus, Inter and Milan form the most successful trio, but the list of champions holds stories of other kinds: Torino in the 1940s, Maradona’s Napoli, Roma and Lazio, and three titles that entered football’s memory: Cagliari’s in 1969/70, with Gigi Riva, Hellas Verona’s in 1984/85 and Sampdoria’s in 1990/91.
Over a long season, a prediction league is won through consistency. On WisePaul, each match locks at kick-off, other people’s predictions only become visible once the match has locked, results come in on their own and the table is recalculated after every match, with recent form, scoring streaks and progress matchday by matchday. Anyone joining while the season is under way counts only the remaining matches.
Request your league and we set up the competition and the rules for you; the organiser gets access and an invite code to share with the company, the family or the group of friends. All that is left is deciding who becomes the league champion.
