Ligue 1 is the top division of French football. The professional national championship was born in 1932/33, and the first champions were Olympique Lillois, the club that gave rise to today’s Lille. It was called Division 1 for decades and became Ligue 1 in 2002.
The roll of honour spans generations: Reims and Saint-Étienne, who marked the 1950s and 1970s, Marseille, European champions in 1993, Monaco, Lille, Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon, who won seven league titles in a row between 2001/02 and 2007/08. It is a league that brings through young talent and where the title race is rarely dull.
Over a long season, a prediction league is won through consistency. On WisePaul, each match locks at kick-off, other people’s predictions only become visible once the match has locked, results come in on their own and the table is recalculated after every match, with recent form, scoring streaks and progress matchday by matchday. Anyone joining while the season is under way counts only the remaining matches.
Request your league and we set up the competition and the rules for you; the organiser gets access and an invite code to share with the company, the family or the group of friends. All that is left is deciding who becomes the league champion.
